About us

Since its foundation in 2015, the Gorilla theater ensemble from Cologne has combined theater and experiential education methods with socially relevant topics.

The aim of the collective is to make a contribution to sustainable social development and to promote the necessary design and action skills. The gorilla in the name symbolizes this vision: gorillas are strong animals that live in harmony with themselves and nature - an image that reflects work and values.

The offer ranges from interactive theater performances and accompanying teaching materials to participatory workshops with different age groups - including in kindergartens, schools, educational and environmental centers as well as child and youth welfare facilities.

Initially founded in the legal form of a GbR, the GbR received certification as BNE NRW in 2023 (2023-2027). In February 2025, the ensemble founded Gorilla Theaterprogramme e.V.
