About us

We seek to establish a space for critical theory in Dresden. Especially in this city with its strong right wing tendencies, there is a need for the critical study of this society's authoritarian tendencies, the explosion of antisemitism, the racist and misogynist normalcy, and the failures of an irrational economy.
Our library - the disputhek - contains (primarily) the books from the legacy of Joachim Bruhn, who was a famous communist writer. We want to compile the books into a public online catalog (WebOPAC) and lend them on site. This way, we want to facilitate, even beyond Dresden, the inconvenient enlightenment on the social conditions and take it out to the public with reading groups, seminars, and talks in the disputhek. Thus, critical theory should influence the pulic discourse in Dresden and foster an awareness for society as a nexus of suffering and lordship. For we view the critique of society as the precondition for an emancipatory praxis.
