About us
The Nymphaea Zoo is a popular, family-friendly zoo in Esslingen am Neckar. It is located on the picturesque Neckar Island and is a small but lovingly designed area that is home to both native and exotic animal species. The park covers an area of around 3 hectares and is an ideal place for relaxing excursions into nature.
The zoo is home to over 600 animals from around 100 different species. In addition to typical native animals such as the eagle owl, European pond turtle, and ducks, visitors can also discover exotic animal and bird species. The aquarium and terrarium house impresses with a large variety of fish, reptiles, and amphibians.
Since its foundation in 1905, the zoo has been run by dedicated volunteers who not only maintain the park but also organise educational programs and events. The park's income flows directly into the maintenance and further development of the zoo.
