About us
to the floor e.V. was founded in 2024 and emerged from the community work of Whacking Berlin, which has been active since 2018. Our association is dedicated to promoting the queer dance culture Whacking in Berlin. Whacking is a dance style that originated in the gay clubs of 1970s Los Angeles, celebrating free expression, authenticity, and the recognition of all sexual orientations and identities. In light of the rising queer- and transphobia, increasing assaults, and the growing threat from far-right groups, we see an urgent need to create a discrimination-free, financially accessible, and as safe as possible space for people to express themselves freely. We facilitate artistic exchange across national borders to promote cultural education, support the development of the community, and inspire people from diverse backgrounds.

Wir haben 3.352,37 € Spendengelder erhalten
Die Spenden tragen dazu bei, einen Teil der Kosten für die Veranstaltungsräumlichkeiten (Theater Ballhaus Prinzenallee) sowie die Honorare der Künstler*innen (Tänzer*innen und Musiker*innen) zu decken. Die übrigen Festivalkosten, die nicht über betterplace.org finanziert wurden, konnten wir durch weitere Fördermittel und Eigenmittel absichern.
Wir danken euch von Herzen für eure Unterstützung! Als kleines Dankeschön veröffentlichen wir im April ein "Aftermovie", das euch einen Einblick in die fantastischen Ergebnisse gibt, die wir dank eurer Hilfe erzielen konnten.
