About us

Buikwe Touch Rehabilitation Ministries Uganda (BTRMU) was founded in 2007 by Mary Zema with a vision of rehabilitating women living in prostitution, share the love of Christ to these women and their families as well as finding sustainable solutions to the problem in Jinja and Buikwe Districts. Since its inception, BTRMU has worked alongside 85 women and their children to rehabilitate and integrate them back into their communities and families. Mary began working with nine women from the streets of Mbikko in Buikwe district. She would take regular visits down to the women working at bars, spend time with them, talking to them, getting to know why they ended up in prostitution and working with them toward a life out of sexual exploitation.
