Partnerships London Mtwara is a small NGO working between London UK and Mtwara TZ on sexual and reproductive health and education. Our core activity since forming in Dec 2006 has been training and supporting Clinical Officer students at the Zonal Health Training Institute.
Key aspects of the project include:
•providing clinical officers with technical information on sexual health and skills to teach sexual health in community settings
• bridging the health/education divide by bringing interactive and participatory learning into the COTC curriculum, and bringing the clinical officer students out into the community
• wider community involvement is promoted by Ngome Cultural Theatre in high impact, often comic performances highlighting issues around sexual health, teenage pregnancy and different perspectives among the generations.
PaLM is looking to facilitate joined up working among the diverse people and organisations working on SRH/E in Mtwara region and exploring how it can best contribute to linking local initiatives with wider contexts and policy forums.
We have become teaching a module on Research and Evaluation in support of the COTC curriculum and are working on computer based learning resources for health workers.
