About us
Afloat e.V. is a non-profit organisation which provides support to mothers* who identify as either immigrant, international, expatriate or foreign across Germany from pregnancy through every stage of parenthood.
Our mission is to remove the linguistic, cultural, and societal barriers to finding quality mental health care and provide international mothers* with the support system that they deserve.
Afloat is a non-profit organisation that offers both in-person and virtual volunteer-led support groups to international mothers* across Germany. We at Afloat recognise that not only will 1 in 7 mothers* experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD), but also that migrant mothers* suffer more frequently from PMADs. In response, we serve as an international coordinator for Postpartum Support International, providing information about PMADs so that international moms* across Germany can connect to the resources they need.
Our services are funded by donations and inclusive to anyone who considers themselves a mother*, father* regardless of gender identity or family structure.

Your donations help us continue offering free, caring, and reliable mental health support to immigrant FLINTA* mothers* across Germany.
They are used first and foremost to run our Helpline and support groups. This includes training and supporting our volunteer facilitators, providing regular supervision, coordinating our programmes, and ensuring that everyone who reaches out to us is met with respect, safety, and understanding.
Donations also help us cover essential practical costs, such as secure digital tools, data protection, accessibility, and outreach, so that our services remain easy to access and trustworthy.
All funds are used in line with Afloat e.V.’s mission and values. They directly support our charitable work and are never used for private benefit.
We are deeply committed to being transparent with our community. We share updates about our work and how donations are used, and we remain open about changes when they happen.
Above all, your support helps us create stable, welcoming spaces where immigrant mothers* and caregivers can feel less alone, better informed, and gently supported through difficult moments.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
