About us

The Bremerhaven District Cantorate (Kreiskantorat Bremerhaven) offers the inter-communal choir groups of the Evangelical Lutheran church district of Bremerhaven. District Cantor Eva Schad's main concern is well-coordinated, cross-generational work with choirs for all ages. Eight groups rehearse and perform at the Christ Church in Bremerhaven-Geestemünde. The Evangelical City Choir of Bremerhaven (Evangelische Stadtkantorei Bremerhaven) was founded in 1963 as an oratorio choir and has over 100 members. The Bremerhaven Chamber Choir (Bremerhavener Kammerchor) is dedicated to demanding choral music and rarely performed works. Professional musicians and ambitious amateurs play together in the Bremerhaven Chamber Orchestra (Bremerhavener Kammerorchester). Children and young people are trained in several groups according to their age. In this way they are introduced to the work of adult choirs. The District Cantorates concerts play an outstanding role in the region's church music life.
