About us
The Association of Afghan Organisations in Germany (VAFO) is a multi-ethnic, politically independent, secular and non-profit non-governmental organisation. As the first organisation representing the interests of people with an Afghan migration history, we are part of the democracy and human rights movement in Germany.
VAFO connects and acts in a flexible and needs-orientated way by being close to the Afghan community. We facilitate diverse internal dialogue and create synergies with the outside world: we initiate space for exchange formats, bundle and prepare concrete experiences and concerns, we network. We promote and fight for equal and self-determined participation.
VAFO supports the capacity building of its member organisations and strengthens the visibility of the Afghanistan diaspora and self-representation vis-à-vis politics and administration. We actively shape German migration policy and German-Afghan relations. We approach our goals through our work in topic-related working groups, projects and demand papers.
