About us

THE SITUATION
There are over 1500 orphaned or homeless children in Gondar, Ethiopia; most cannot afford food, medication or education. Without help the outlook for these vulnerable children is grim.

OUR RESPONSE
Providing shelter for 35 children
School support for over 230 children yearly
Distributing food and healthcare vouchers for vulnerable kids
Reuniting children & families
Tackling the causes of poverty; through community education & training

Our work last year reached over 1000 local people and we achieved all this and paid all our staff salaries for just €27,695. This is the value of a well organised local NGO.

OUR GOAL
To build our 'Home for Tomorrow'; a home for 250 kids, community training centre & sustainable farm, and continue until we provide a better future to all orphaned, vulnerable & homeless children in Gondar.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
With your support we can help the children off the street and into a family home and education. This is their route away from poverty, hunger, and the threat of drugs, prostitution and HIV/AIDS.
Please give generously.

There are more details, photos and a blog of latest news on our website www.YenegeTesfa.org including complete transparency of our spending. Please visit us there or on a visit to Ethiopia.

Donations that cannot be used for the project

(Deleted User)  25 July 2016 at 02:47 PM

Dear donors,
when managers of a project haven't requested a payout over the course of a longer period, the German law and our terms of use provide that we (gut.org gemeinnützige AG, operator of betterplace.org) use the money for our tax-deductible purposes. The same applies to the cancellation of a project, where the manager of the project is unable to realize it.

Therefore we will use these donations for the following purposes:

Thanks for your support,
the betterplace.org-team
