Solar energy system for an indigenous community of 225 people living in Coron, Palawan, Philippines. The solar energy system is made up of a solar grid, a battery, a converter, and an inverter. This is the community's first direct access to electricity and impacts their lives by electrifying light bulbs and ventilation which enables increased productivity and studying at night. The solar energy is also a form of cost savings for the community, because they previously had to charge their cellphones in the nearest town which cost Php 20 per charge which makes up between 5-10% of a family's daily wage.
