About us
The Ostfriesisches Schulmuseum Folmhusen is located in the East Frisian municipality of Westoverledingen.
We preserve, research and present the history of school and childhood - with a focus on East Frisia.
Our sponsor is the Ostfriesisches Schulmuseum Folmhusen e.V. association in cooperation with the municipality of Westoverledingen. In 2023, we were awarded the Museum Quality Seal of the Museumsverband Niedersachsen und Bremen e.V. for the third time.
We are a member of the Museum Association of East Frisia as well as in the Museum Association of Lower Saxony/Bremen, a member of the Working Group Museums and Collections in East Frisia. We also work in a consortium with other school museums in Lower Saxony and Bremen and see ourselves as part of a decentralised regional museum.
The museum is in contact and exchange with German-speaking and international school museums.
