About us

With us, each individual person with his personality, his abilities and his individual needs are the focus! Lebenshilfe Syke was founded in 1966 on the initiative of 66 committed parents of children with an intellectual disability. Since then, we have been committed to equal opportunities, self-determination and participation of impaired people and people at risk of impairment. We operate 21 different social facilities in the districts of Diepholz and Nienburg in Lower Saxony: these include an outpatient early intervention service, kindergartens, day care centers (school facilities), a school assistance service, residential facilities, an outpatient residential care service and a family support service. Over 800 employees support and accompany approximately 1,400 children, adolescents and adults in Lebenshilfe Syke every day with a great deal of commitment and heart and soul - the idea of self-help and the principle of normalization are of the utmost importance.
