About us

Schoolgirl Essentials (SGE) is a Tanzanian- based non- profit organization advocating for menstrual, sexual, reproductive health & character education to adolescents in rural primary and secondary schools. To achieve its projects' goals, School Girl Essentials considers the emotional needs of the girlchild at all school life stages. SGE highlights the need for intensified efforts to address growing inequities in education outcomes, including a particular focus on addressing gender-specific needs and barriers that may determine whether girls are able to reach their full potential in heath and well-being. Menstruation is one of many barriers preventing girls from attaining education opportunities, yet we know that when we educate a girlchild, she can change the world. Through it's leading program Fahari ya Msichana, SGE is dedicated towards ensuring that students who menstruate are not missing any learning days and opportunities due to lack of adequate menstrual products and knowledge.
