About us
The Gerald Asamoah Foundation for Children with Heart Disease supports selected projects that aim to help children with heart disease and their families - because congenital heart defects are the most common organ malformations in newborns worldwide.
The foundation was set up by Gerald Asamoah, who was a professional footballer for almost 20 years and was runner-up in the 2002 World Cup with the German national team. It is not a matter of course that he was able to experience this - because at the age of 19 he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. The end of his career loomed.
But he was able to continue his career. His promise at the time: I'll give something back.
That's why he set up his foundation for children with heart disease in 2007. Out of gratitude.
