Support our aid projects
The current focus of the Athenstaedt Foundation is the financial and non-material support of the non-profit SECPAD Society (Social Education, Cultural, Preservation & Development) in the high valley of Zanskar in the Ladakhian Himalayas.
Zanskar was a kingdom until 1834 and is now part of Ladakh, a union territory in north-western India. The area had been largely isolated for centuries and cut off from negative and positive civilizational influences. The approximately 15,000 Zanskaris are predominantly of Tibetan descent and mostly live in the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
The aim of our commitment in Zanskar is to support the SECPAD Society in its own efforts to give the youth of Zanskar a chance for a future worth living in their own country through good school and vocational training.
