About us
Asciburgium was a Roman garnison place on the Lower Germanic Limes. Today's archaeological site is located in Moers Asberg district in the Wesel on the Lower Rhine. It monitored by the early Roman period to the right bank opposite the mouth of the Ruhr and the putative precursor of running alongside medieval Hellweg.
Asciburgium is one of the best researched auxilian-camp to the province of Germania Inferior. The excavations provided a rare evidence that already present in the time of Augustus, Roman troops in the region were.
The purpose of the association is to promote and research, the academic and understandable presentation of ancient history, especially the vivid and authentic representation of the art, culture, crafts, military and society in ancient Roman fort and the Roman camp village and the adjacent forts along the Lower Germanic Limes in the first Century AD.
