Mt. Rwenzori Wonders is an education fund that was established in 2007. Currently, the fund has a scholarship scheme with 86 direct beneficiaries, 50 girls and 36 boys. Two factors determine our selection procedure:
1. Poor and vulnerable background with the limited possibility of affording school fees and other basic needs.
2. Keen interest in education and fair performance in school.
To make the project more meaningful the caretakers, majority of whom are single mothers, also directly benefit from our initiative. We have been able to create a micro-finance scheme through which the caretakers started income generating projects such as poultry, piggery, small scale shops, agricultural projects etc. The majority of the families have been connected to solar energy to enable the sponsored children to do night revision.
We have also built infrastructure at Karambi Primary School in Kabarole district in Western Uganda. This includes:
1. A fully stocked library;
3. Staff houses
