Believers Community School (BCS) is a faith based organization founded by and located at Pentecostal Believers Church in 2002 out of the need to reach out to the orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) who need to be provided with access to free basic education, care and nutrition support. The organization was established on the Biblical basis of looking after the poor and under privileged. Currently, the organization supports 150 OVCs.
The school runs from pre-school and grades one to seven. The materials such as uniforms, books, pencils and pens are provided to these children often times.
(b) Feeding program
The school provides lunch meal every school day for all the children as most of them come to school on empty stomachs. This is in order for these children to concentrate in class.
(c) Education support
The school continues to support these children with school fees, books and uniforms when they qualify to upper basic schools in grade eight and subsequently to grade ten at high schools whenever resources are available. So far we have some children now in grade ten who need to start as soon as resources are in place. This year, January 2010, we recorded 100% pass rate when all the ten pupils who sat for grade seven examinations last year qualified to grade eight with impressive results. With the few resources mobilized, we managed to ensure all are in school where they qualified.
