In 2014, Sneha Shrestha's neighbour poisoned her dog because he felt disturbed by her barking. Despite desperate efforts to save her, she died four days later.
That was the motivation for the founding of Sneha's Care: an animal shelter to protect stray dogs and other animals from hunger, neglection, disease and abuse.
Today, Sneha’s Care is one of the biggest animal welfare associations in Nepal. The team rescues and vaccinates animals, treats them medically directly on-site or at the shelter, carries out neutering, and gives talks on animal welfare at schools and public institutions.
Currently, 150 dogs live at Sneha's Care. Since 2014, more than 10,000 animals were medically treated.
