The Jhuwani Environment Protection Programme (JEPP) engages to combat plastic pollution in the District Chitwan, Nepal. A country in economic development, burdened by political instability and lacking infrastructure, disposable packaging is becoming a prominent problem. Most plastic packaging is simply disposed of in nature or incinerated, as waste collection and recycling systems are scarce and insufficient.
The JEPP initiative is aimed at sensitizing and supporting the local population to make informed decision on their use of plastics. Through workshops and seminars, the local population develops ways to tackle the issues and implements them, increasing a sense of ownership and self-responsibility for their environment. Our local team is carrying out hands-on activities in tandem with the people of Chitwan.
We're launching our new awareness campaign 2020 with help of the provided donations in Chitwan, Nepal.
This includes school workshops, clean-up programmes and villager gatherings with the goal of sensibilisation and education about the issue of plastic pollution and waste reduction.
Many thanks to all supporters and donors!
