The Evangelic Diakoniewerk Schwäbisch Hall e.V. (abbreviated: The Diak) is a diaconal service company for old and sick people.
The Diak was founded in 1886 and has the following business units:
- Care for the elderly: Various retirement and nursing homes with a total of 321 places.
- Outpatient services: Care of approximately 1,400 patients per day by: 165 sisters and brothers in 20 social centers; 224 caregivers in the care service "Diakonie daheim"; 96 home care assistants; Over 120 volunteers.
- Clinical center: The Diakonie-Klinikum is a house of central care and the academic teaching hospital of the University of Heidelberg. Every year around 24,000 inpatients and more than 36,000 outpatients are treated. The nursing professions training center offers apprenticeships and an extensive program for advanced training.
