About us

Respekt! - Die Stiftung was established in 2011 with the aim of continuously promoting the research, collection, processing and dissemination of knowledge about the lives of young people over the long term.
Its work helps to close a gap in society: Nowhere in Germany has there been sustained research into youth cultures to date. Instead, one-sided views of young people as a potential danger to society dominate.

The Foundation Respekt! emerged from the commitment of the Berlin Archiv der Jugendkulturen, which since its establishment in 1998 has dedicated itself to the task of countering the clichés and prejudices about "youth" with differentiated information.
Respekt! advises local authorities and youth welfare and work organizations, conducts its own youth studies, has been coordinating the klimazukünfte2050 literature competition https://klimazukuenfte2050.de/ since 2022 and regularly organizes literature workshops with children and young people throughout Germany.
