About us
FUNDECOIPA was founded in December 2005 by the villagers of Arútam. We are an indigenous non-profit organization with our head-office in the Shuar community Arútam in the Pastaza province of Ecuador.
FUNDECOIPA was founded as a response to the social and economical difficulties faced by our members and neighboring communities. The objective of FUNDECOIPA is to create community development in the indigenous communities of Pastaza through culturally founded project and sustainable use of the biological resources.
The foundation manages a 2100 acre reserve and provides tourism, volunteer and research opportunities within the reserve and Shuar communities.
