This group is a domestic violence organization that focuses on educating people about domestic abuse and how to avoid it if possible and what to do if you can't. We work on the principle of accountability of the entire community. We work with victims to assist them (not do it for them) move on from an abusive relationship with dignity. We manage an outreach office in Stone Mountain,GA a suburb of Atlanta, GA. At this office we provide counseling services (by referral), distribute emergency assistance (money for rent and utility payments), distribute supplies to locations where natural disasters have occured (Haiti, Chile), etc.
We have people from our organization who go out and speak to church groups, clubs and schools about relationship violence. We also have formed a male advocacy group called Muslim Men Against Domestic Violence.
The Baitul Salaam Network, Inc. is expanding our housing resources. We need more places to house survivors of abuse. When survivors have safe places to go they can recover quicker from the abuse they have suffered. Their children do better in school and in society. We are asking for monetary donations, personal care items and non-perishable food items or gift cards from Wal-mart, Kroger, Publix, Kmart or Target. We are on Facebook.
