About us

Mission Statement
Protecting African Wildlife Conservation Trust is committed to biodiversity conservation beyond borders. We engage worldwide sponsors to support environmental scientists with all aspects of research, and social ecologists with cultural conservation and education programs.  We promote awareness and the necessary action for preserving biodiversity towards a sustainable environment as part of our global heritage.

Overview
Protecting African Wildlife Conservation Trust is a non-profit organisation based in Northeast South Africa.
The core of PAW’s directors provide fund raising and mentoring of our conservation projects and enable the organisation to consistently develop and apply new methods of research and community education.
The spectrum covers most areas of conservation, as all are interlinked and important to support ecological processes and systems.  One of our main focuses is collecting essential and empirical base-line data to support research initiatives, policy formulation, and sustainable resource management of the province’s rich biodiversity of plants and wildlife.  PAW also strives to promote a general awareness of problems and issues facing conservation to the global conservation community.

There are two main criteria used for selecting our research projects.  One is problem solving related issues such as management of habitats for the health of a specific ecosystem.  The second one is protection of species selected in order of priority.  The principles used as guidelines to determine priority are based on one or a combination of criterions such as: those formulated by International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and specific conservation needs in a province.
