About us

SOS Humanity - Civilian Search and Rescue in the Mediterranean Sea
As a civilian sea search and rescue organisation, our mission is to save lives at sea. We do this by rescuing people in distress at sea as they flee across the Mediterranean, caring for them on board and bringing them safely to shore. We document and publish survivors' stories to raise public awareness of the deaths in the Mediterranean and the inhumane policies of EU member states. Through our political work on land, we advocate for the rights of people fleeing by sea. Our work is supported by a civil solidarity movement and funded entirely by donations.
