SUPPORT FOR WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN (OVC) INFECTED AND AFFECTED WITH HIV/AIDS IN NYALENDA LOCATION
KISUMU EAST CONSTITUENCY
Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of the proposal is to undertake a situation analysis to create awareness to HIV/AIDs control and provide support to the vulnerable affected children below the age of 15 years with tuition fee, school uniform and stationery if resources available. The core mandate of the project include supporting the orphan children especially the girl child in training IGA and buying stationery, provide school uniform where necessary. In its undertakings the project has strong belief and faith in the concept of partnership and networking.
The impact of HIV/AIDS has continued to be felt across various social dimensions of Kisumu East District especially within Nyalenda slums. Various socio-cultural practices and beliefs are associated with the spread of HIVAIDS in the centre. Widow inheritance, poverty, child labour and OVS orphans illiteracy are some notable local practices identified as contributing to rapid moral breakdowns in the community.
1.5 Expected Output/Impact
Successful undertaking of the proposal will result in realization of the following deliverables (Outputs and outcomes)
1. Eradicate illiteracy in early child education according to MGDs 2012 plan.
2. Best practices in poverty eradication by training the community
3. An effective model of IGA within the community to enhance nutritional food supplement in poultry keeping
