Street Child uses education to empower the world’s most vulnerable children to build themselves a sustainable future.
We currently work in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nepal and Nigeria, where we remove barriers to quality education, including family poverty as well as lack of schools and trained teachers. We work with families to ultimately give them long-term hope by supporting their academic or vocational education. At the same time, we are working with communities to help them care for their children better, to build capacity and desire to protect children’s rights – and ultimately to attempt to stem the flow of children to the streets.
We deliver everything through local partners and, since 2008, together we have built/renovated 200 schools and are now helping to educate over 60,000 young people.
