Friends of Uthingo e.V.

For years, our Organisation is working with Child Safety Officers from the Uthingo Crisis Center, who conduct educational work in schools in the townships near Durban, ensure first aid at police stations, and open their homes to abused children. The Uthingo Crisis Center is a point of contact for children and victims of domestic violence.

Uthingo means rainbow in Zulu: a symbol of hope, joy, and the future. And this is exactly what we want to offer the average of 70 children we support each month: a future.

We are a small, entirely volunteer-run association based in Berlin. Donations to Friends of Uthingo secure the livelihood and future of dozens of children. The funds are used directly on-site to help with specific projects.

At least once a year, one of us also travels to the location at our own expense to ensure the targeted use of donations, assess current needs, and initiate further projects.
