Organisational background
Makani Academy is working nonprofit (NPO).

Vision: To support people in creating a better life for themselves, their family and society. Makani Academy was founded in 1990 by the Danish couple Jack and Helene Makani. At that time it was called the NLP House of Denmark and situated in Copenhagen. The following years they expanded their activities to the whole of northern Europe and later to the Russian speaking World and finally to Asia. 2005 they settled privately in Cyprus. Helene has recently left Makani Academy and has settled in Norway.

Jack is a former Army Major in the Danish Army with a degree in psychology and education. Jack Makani is still living in Cyprus and has recently transformed Makani Academy into a (NPO) Jack is a former Army Major in the Danish Army with a degree in psychology and educational Science from The Defence Academy. He is a certified Master Trainer of NLP. He is also the founder of the Akasha Personal Empowerment & Healing System founder of the Holistic Psychotherapist Education as well as the cofounder of International Coach & Trainer Association (ICTA).

During 24 years Jack has taught thousands of students in 18 different countries.

In 2014 Dorthe Gyldenkaerne was asked to join Makani Academy and take up the position as CEO and partner. Dorthe is living at the Faroe Islands, educated as teacher and has been teaching for more than twenty years in public school. She is also NLP & Enneagramtrainer and Psychotherapist. Since 2007 she has been co-owner of Faroese HR-Company.

Makani Academy offered the first Holistic Psychotherapy Education in 1998 and has certified over 100 psychotherapist since then. Makani Academy has today joined partnership with Visionary International in Kathmandu, Nepal in order to create a small international University linked up to one of the state universities.

(The purpose was initially to offer a Master in Psychotherapy & Counselling. The goal was to start teaching in 2016. - This project is now cancelled caused the Earthquake)
