Initiative for Social Empowerment (ISE)

managed by R. Traicova (Communication)

About us

The Initiative for Social Empowerment (ISE) is an international social enterprise that aims to enable vulnerable groups of women and youth in Europe to break out of the bondage of poverty through technology, education, and entrepreneurship. We empower disadvantaged communities to prosper so that they do not become victims of trafficking, slavery, and social dependency.

ISE's pilot project is launched in Bulgaria where target groups are being trained and mentored to start micro enterprises specializing in the full-cycle production of a range of wellness herbal products which will be distributed under the global brand name 'Saksham' (capable and empowered in Sanskrit). The project will then be gradually adapted and expanded to the countries of the Western Balkans and the rest of Europe.

Our mission is being accomplished through an innovative Saksham methodology, developed at Purdue University, that makes entrepreneurial training available to the poor at every level of education, including the illiterate, through intuitive, culturally adapted game-based mobile curriculum platform and through a system that ensures access to global markets and success of the micro enterprises.

ISE works in close partnership with the Institute for Social Empowerment through Entrepreneurship and Knowledge (ISEEK) in the United States, which was established at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management with a vision to empower under-privileged and poverty-stricken population of the world. ISE joins ISEEK’s 10-year goal to assist a minimum of 10 million people living in poverty from at least 10 countries to take control of their own lives with dignity and pride. ISEEK's pilot initiative is launched in India where thousands of women are currently being trained to start their own micro enterprises for the production of silk products.

The Initiative for Social Empowerment (ISE) is a non-profit limited company registered in England and Wales with company number 9341470 and with its principal office at 60 Churchill Square, Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent, ME194YU
