About us

Prime Educational and Social Trust (Prime Trust) came into existence in the year 2002 and registered as a charity with the Government of Puducherry, India. Prime Trust has got three core activities given below:

1. Women Empowerment Programs: Under this program, Prime Trust supports women to alleviate their poverty by providing micro credit directly and linking the women groups with the banks. Prime Trust also provides vocational training such as Tailoring, Embroidery, Handicrafts, Hand made printing. Special programs are also offered how to become a small entrepreneur.

2. Integrated Child Development: Under this activity, Prime Trust, runs a home for abandoned girl children which supports 15 children and provides accommodation, food, education and health care. Prime Trust supports children by sponsoring their studies with their sponsors, runs Day Care Centers, runs Children's Parliament which is trying to help them to acquire leadership skills and information on their rights are also offered.

3. Awareness Generation Programs: Prime Trust wants to impart knowledge to the community on the following topics such as, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition, Health and Hygiene, Personal Hygiene, Diabetes, Cancer, Mental Illness, Women Rights, Child Rights, Child Labour, Consumer Awareness and Environment.

4. Rural Medical Mission: Prime Trust expects medical professional to support the rural community by providing health care. Also we are providing Vitamin A and Albendazole Tables for the poor children. Volunteers can also support this program.

Since, ours is a small grass root NGO, we are not in a position to employ local staff members on a full time basis and hence we need extra hands to support our initiative. Prime Trust receives volunteers since 2002 and we have dedicated Volunteer Coordinator who will guide them along with me.

We expect the volunteers to be dedicated, highly committed, adjustable and willingness to support the needy.
The basic education and understanding English and with basic communication skills are more than enough.
There is no age limit for volunteering.
The volunteer can spend any amount of time from one week to one year.
Prime Trust would expect a small registration fee of Rs.15,000/- to undertake volunteering with us. It is a commitment and directly goes to our programs and to meet our running expenditure. We provide accommodation on payment which would be Rs.300/- per day. The nearest air port is Chennai and we have taxi arrangements to pick up and to drop.

The willing people can apply online and register by following the link with India Volunteer Care, which is the sister organization of Prime Trust: http://www.indiavolunteercare.com/apply-now.html
