About us
Hejmo (formerly Give Something Back to Berlin) is a migrant-led community initiative that creates spaces of belonging through food, music, language, and art.
By bringing together refugees, migrants, and anyone who wants to join, Hejmo transforms shared experiences into connections for a more inclusive and welcoming city. Empowerment of both new and long-term Berliners through volunteering, education, and mutual support is at the heart of everything we do. Each month, we offer more than 80 free activities, centered on food, music, art, and language. Each year, we welcome 15.000 participants and 2.500 volunteers.
Hejmo is a home for our stories - a home we build together. By creating spaces, forging connections, and nurturing networks, we make community not just possible, but alive.

We received a payout of €1,881.75
Dank der Spenden konnten wir unsere Open Kitchen Arbeit fortsetzen und ausbauen. Jede Woche kommen wir zusammen, kochen gemeinsam und lernen uns besser kennen. Dabei erfahren wir etwas über neue Kulturen und Sichtweisen. Wir konnten auch neue Formate austesten. So haben wir zum Beispiel diesen Montat ein crossover event mit unserem DJ Projekt, Open Music Lab, durchgeführt und beide Projekte zusammengeführt. So konnten wir noch mehr neue Verbindungen zwischen Menschen schaffen.
