The German Stem Cell Donor Registry (DSD) is the third-largest stem cell donor registry in Germany and plays a central role in matching stem cell donors with patients suffering from life-threatening diseases such as leukemia. Its mission is to encourage people aged 17 to 50 to register as stem cell donors, thereby increasing the chances of survival for many patients. DSD focuses on education and awareness to highlight the importance of stem cell donations. Additionally, it promotes global networking through collaborations with other registries. The organization provides comprehensive support and counseling for donors and works closely with doctors and hospitals. Challenges such as funding for tissue typing and increasing public awareness are actively addressed to further advance lifesaving stem cell donations.
