About us

TransCape is an organisation that works with and for the Xhosa people.Based in the rural communities of the Eastern Cape, we are faced with a poignant context of poverty and poor health populated by the thriving energy of a people who want to live full and healthy lives.

TransCape’s four main programme areas include Health (with HIV/AIDS as a large component), Social, Education, and Natural Resource Management. Their success as a support organization is a direct result of living and working on the ground, as well as having close and long-standing partnerships with the community beneficiaries themselves.
TransCape strives to act as a community hub with resources and networks for community development. By working on the ground and being receptive to alternative ways of living, we encourage dynamic discussion and sustainable action. Our projects include improving pathways to HIV/AIDS awareness, treatment and care, health promotion, nutrition, improving health facilities, education, business development, job creation, sustainable natural resource management and eco- tourism development..

We believe in facilitation; allowing the communities to take ownership of the projects themselves, empowering them to face the challenges affecting them, and also ensuring that they are sustainable.
