About us

The Anti-Discrimination Office (ADB) has been in existence since 2004 and is the only independent point of contact for people affected by discrimination in Saxony, offering advice, information and further training on all grounds of discrimination listed in the AGG and on multiple discrimination. The ADB works independently, intersectionally and is open to all those affected.

Our focus is on providing direct and prompt support in the event of experiences of discrimination, for example on the basis of racial or ethnic attributions, gender, sexual identity or orientation, disability, chronic illness, weight, age, religion or ideology. Our aim is to empower those affected and support them in exercising and enforcing their rights. In addition, the ADB promotes social awareness of discrimination, conducts training courses, imparts knowledge and advocates for equal participation in politics. A culture of recognition and awareness is intended to counteract discrimination in everyday life in the long term.

Our team of around 20 people has a wide range of personal experiences of discrimination, meaning that the ADB is diverse in terms of origin, gender, language, social situation, disability, sexual orientation and religious affiliation. The advisory services are based on shared experiences and actively include marginalized perspectives. This experiential perspective lends credibility to our diverse work and brings it particularly close to the reality of the target groups' lives, not least in the political and social discourse. In addition, the entire team regularly takes part in workshops and further training to keep up to date in the dynamic field of anti-discrimination work.

Through close networking with regional, local and national advice centers, the ADB complements existing support structures and thus sustainably increases the effectiveness of anti-discrimination work in Saxony, Eastern Germany and the Republic.
