About us

We are now collecting donations to enable us to sponsor low-income African nationals to attend the annual eLearning Africa conference, this year held in Windhoek, Namibia.

Our scholarships enable people working at the grass-roots level of the education and ICT sectors to take part in a key networking and knowledge exchange event for the industry.

Participating in the conference is not only a fantastic learning experience but also an important opportunity for the people on the ground to have their voices heard by policy makers and business leaders in an open forum.

The benefit of the scholarships extends far beyond the three days of the conference, as our scholarship recipients return to their local communities with the inspiration and connections to make a positive difference to the lives of people across the Continent.

The mission of the eLearning Africa Scholarship Trust (EAST) is to make a lasting positive impact on education in Africa. We do so by investing in Africa’s educators, practitioners and research communities and leveraging the potential that Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) can offer.

Whilst technology and innovation are usually synonymous with expert groups and the upper echelons of society, it is our conviction that as technology becomes cheaper, more connected and more powerful, its potential to impact education becomes relevant even for the most remote and under-served regions of Africa. It is therefore vital that educators and practitioners across Africa are not alienated from learning innovation and technology, but rather that they are part of the process of innovation itself.

This is why we seek to sponsor the conference participation of as many low-income practitioners, educators and researchers as possible. Their participation at Africa’s premiere eLearning event helps to ensure that practical challenges and solutions are given the voice these deserve. Furthermore, it enables them to disseminate valuable knowledge to communities throughout Africa.

EAST is a non-profit organisation that aims to make a lasting positive impact on the education, health and entrepreneurship sector in Africa. We do so by investing in Africa's grassroots ICT changemakers and leveraging the potential that Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) can offer. The trust is currently seeking the assistance of likeminded foundations, companies and individuals to ensure that as many low-income African grassroots changemakers are offered the opportunity to participate in this year's eLearning Africa Conference. Enriched through the vast knowledge sharing and networking experience the conference offers, their participation helps them to disseminate valuable knowledge to communities throughout Africa.
