Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation

managed by T. Pokharel

About us

The Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation (SESF) is a registered non-profit organization established in Khandbari, Northeastern Nepal in 1997. SESF aims to provide support for children in need, particularly girls, from Khandbari and surrounding districts.

Many of the children that we serve have lost their father due to either death or imprisonment and their mothers lack the means to support them independently without external help. We currently care for 20 children, 14 girls and 6 boys, sponsored by different private donors from a variety of countries. The children have been enrolled at both private as well as government schools in the Khandbari area.

SESF also raises funds to support an orphanage , Child Welfare Home (CHW) Khandbari, to provide 12 orphaned, helpless , abandoned children at-risk ( seven boys and five girls from six to fifteen years old) with food and shelter, educational opportunities, and healthcare.

SESF fundraising project through online Global Giving organization has brought a dramatic changes in the children’s lives at the Child Welfare Home Khandbari. The children are now provided with 3 meals every day and have received new school uniforms and stationery. We have also been able to purchase a gas stove to protect against the health and safety risks associated with cooking and heating by open fire

SESF has also pioneered a government registered and licensed nonprofit trekking company entitled Makalu Arun Social Trek (MAST) to promote sustainable social trekking towards community development in order to finance our child education program as well as to create jobs opportunities in the local community. All profits generated from our social trekking organization are used to support Child Welfare Home Khandari and ultimately, the nutrition, health, education and safety of our children.

However the fund raised through global giving is not sufficient to run the orphanage Our recently established Company has not been able to able to attract more tourists in the region and collect more service charge from them.
