As a result, people especially women are forced to fetch water of poo r quality from streams and ponds thus highly risking their lives. Alternatively they have to depend on mobile water vendors who sell water in small quantities and at prices usually higher than the cost of water supply through homes connections in the middle and high -income areas. 

So the project shall benefit the total population of 141,800 males and 128,200 who will be the beneficiaries of the project. The population in Gomba district is of low income earnings, thus majority of people fall under urban poverty which includes 

Bukandula, Bulwadda Lubaale, Lugaaga, Kabulasoke among other villages. Women and children in Gomba District spend 260 kilocalories, which is equivalent to one tenth of daily nutritional intake of an adolescent to fetch water from a distance of 1kilometre with a 20-litter bucket or jerry can.
