What’s it about
From November to March, cold and heat buses are on the road in Berlin every evening into the night hours to visit people without accommodation, to supply them and to bring them to emergency shelters free of charge. If the person concerned would like to accept help, call the heat bus of the Berlin German Red Cross from 6 p.m. and the cold bus of the Berlin City Mission from 9 p.m.
If the person appears helpless, is not responsive or possibly puts himself or others in an acutely dangerous situation, an emergency situation can be assumed.
If you suspect that a person is suffering from cold and weather, speak to them politely and ask if they need anything or if they want to accept help. Especially in winter it can be life-threatening to sleep on the street. Please do not look away if you suspect a danger of frostbite.
