Only ten days left until the marathon in Hamburg on April 17! My legs hurt from the practice, but I am very excited. To further increase my motivation for running a good time (personal best), I turn this into a charity run for Memorial Wöbbelin that recalls the history of KZ Wöbbelin. The KZ Wöbbelin, a satellite camp of Neuengamme concentration camp, existed only for ten weeks, from 12 February to 2 May 1945. In the short period of its existence, the camp imprisoned more than 5,000 victims of the Hitler regime. The prisoners came from more than 25 nations, more than 1,000 of them died due to the extreme conditions of detention of disease, hunger, and exhaustion.

Every year in early May on the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp, the Friends of the Memorial Wöbbelin host the International Meeting of Generations in Wöbbelin and Ludwigslust.
In addition to the memorial services at the various memorial sites in the district Ludwigslust, talks with witnesses and survivors are the focus. The donations are used to host witness talks with survivors of the Wöbbelin concentration camp from Poland and Belgium in school in the county Ludwigslust-Parchim!
