keep your presents, i want change!

For my birthday, I'd like to see how well this will work: Instead of presents, I'd be really happy if we could use the money for something more meaningful. Originally I planned to support a water charity (Viva von Agua or charity:water), but at the moment, the place where it's most needed is probably East Africa (Somalia, Kenia, Ethiopia).

I'm sure you've all heard about the horrible situation and how slowly the global community is responding. Especially Germany is pretty damn cheap (although they make calculations that make it look nice), and the response of our "minister for economic cooperation and development" that other (African, Asian) countries need to move first, leaves me speechless.

So it'd be amazing if this can be the nudge for people to donate and we can collect some money! I guess, it's often just a matter of impulse, since I'm sure you'd all like to avoid a massive crisis. And spread the word! I'd be even happier if this motivates people to donate that I don't even know (yet).

The great thing is, you don't even have to be in Berlin (even though it'd be great to see you at the party!), but you can do this donation very comfortably from your seat. And yes, the projects/organisations are credible- one is a collective of aid organisations (accredited by the DZI), the other is a renowned NGO (www.savethechildren.org). And 100% is forwarded, betterplace takes no cut!
