Together we can: 1 Hour of Sport for 4,000 Schools by 2035 (Street)

Our goal is to help Laureus offer the Sport for Good Hour to 4,000 schools in Germany and Austria by 2035, focusing on areas of greatest need. To achieve this, we are raising funds to support one class for one year. 
Your donation will enable us to provide disadvantaged schools facing societal challenges with the Sport for Good Hour. This involves an hour of exercise, a sense of belonging and motivation to learn, integrated into the school day and delivered by trained staff.

In Germany, one in seven children grows up in poverty, and in Austria, it is one in five. This has consequences, including less exercise, isolation, learning deficits and a stressful school environment. At the same time, fewer than 1% of children currently have access to Sport for Good programmes.

The Sport for Good Hour. This is a daily hour in the timetable that combines exercise with social and emotional support. It is Laureus' proven-to-work curriculum, delivered by trained professionals throughout the school year and firmly embedded in the school's structures. This creates motivation, a sense of belonging, and a more positive atmosphere.

Laureus programmes have measurable effects, including greater motivation to learn, improved reading performance, increased self-efficacy, more respectful behaviour, enhanced teamwork skills and better coping mechanisms for setbacks (e.g. a 59% improvement in reading ability and a 98% increase in self-efficacy).

Laureus Sport for Good is one of the world's largest sports social impact movements, aligned with the SDGs (health, education and inclusion). It conducts regular impact measurements and audits and has a strong network of programmes and ambassadors.

The goal is to start with pilot schools in 2026 and then scale up. By 2035, our aim is to establish the daily hour at 4,000 disadvantaged schools in Germany and Austria.

Who we are?
We have just started our MBA studies at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, one of Europe's leading business schools. As an international team of six students from India, Bangladesh, Korea, and Germany, we are aware of our privileged position and would like to use this opportunity to give something back. That's why we're participating in the Future Leaders Fundraising Challenge—a proven success story that has raised more than €650,000 for good causes since 2016 and now takes place twice a year. This year, we are proud to support Laureus Sport for Good and its mission.

With our contribution to the campaign we aim to raise €4,000 – enough to finance the Sport for Good Hour at one of the 10 pilot schools in Germany or Austria for a full year. Your donation makes this possible: it helps train and qualify coaches and social educators, provide sports and learning materials, and create safe spaces for exercise. It also allows Laureus to build school partnerships, measure impact, and develop the programme further. Step by step, together we can prove the impact in these pilot schools and pave the way to bring the Sport for Good Hour to many more children in the future.
