Worum es geht
Gioto Garbage Slum is a situated on the outskirts of Nakuru, Kenya. The slum is home to over 130 families who have have built their lives upon the garbage that has been dumped there for over five decades.
Unable to find employment the slum dwellers rely on the garbage dumped here each day to make their livelihoods. Their days are spent searching through the garbage collecting recyclable materials which they then sell for next to nothing. With insufficient funds to provide their families and themselves with food the slum residents will rummage through freshly dumped piles of rubbish for anything that may of once been consiodered edible. This can include bones with remnants of meat or scraps off fruit.
Thanks to the support of IVHQ and Fadhili Helpers (NGO's) we have been able to start up a new project through which we hope to receive sponsorships for the children to attend boarding school and improve the general lives of the families living here.
Any support regarding child sponsorship, financial or material donations, social awareness and general interest would be greatly appreciated.
