Worum es geht
Hey!
I'm Valentin, a 37 year old Hungarian adventurer from Sweden. On March 1, 2023 I started biking from Sweden to Iran by myself and hopefully further to Africa.
In 2020 ago I started a cycling journey to China with a friendofmine, but because of the Covid pandemic we got trapped in Ukraine, where we volunteered for the SOS Children's Village in Brovary, next to Kyiv, where we taught the children English every day.
I know the Ukrainian children and management personally and I've always appreciated their work, that is even more valuable now because of the war.
I'm very grateful for having lived my entire life in peace, having had the opportunity to to move from Hungary to Sweden in hope for an even better life. Now I would like to make my greatest dream come true and explore the world on my bicycle. I'm gonna bike in rain, snow, heat, through deserts, across mountains.
I cannot tell you, how happy I am to be one of those few people on Earth, who actually have the courage and the financial possibility to make such a journey.
But to be honest, I don’t think I’m exceptionally brave. There are millions of people, who are living in war and constant fear of what may come tomorrow. And the most vulnerable of those people are always, always children. I cannot just leave my cozy, convenient life in Sweden and do this amazing expedition without talking about the real heroes.
I have friends in Ukraine who refuse leaving their country, even if they cannot stop the war by themselves. They are heroes. The people who work for SOS Children’s Villages by risking their own lives for traumatized and hungry children are heroes. I would have left the country on day 1. Or even earlier. I’ll always be able to book the next flight back to Stockholm, if my trip really gets way too crazy. But one of my main motivations is, that I’ll do this expedition for those, who must struggle much more, than I do.
Please, consider donating an amount for Ukrainian children. You can give a one-time donation, or a recurring payment every month, or after every 1000 km I bike, etc. Or just spread the word about my journey.
Thank you!
Valentin
