Sophie Clements - Bavarian Peaks Challenge 2022

I shall be taking  part in a 2 day strenuous hike in the Bavarian Alps in September to help raise funds for the PATRIZIA Primary School in Songea. The hike will cross the Manfallge bridge, followed by an overnight stay in a mountain hut with the goal of reaching the top of the Wendelstein the following day.  The Wendelstein is an 1838 metre-high mountain and probably Bavaria's most famous mountain. 

As you will know I'm definitely not a hiker in the slightest and have never done anything like this before - I will be completely out of my comfort zone so this is going to be a real challenge!!  But it's for an amazing cause and I really am proud to be a part of it.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and any donations will be hugely appreciated!

The PATRIZIA Hiking Challenge for a good cause enters its second round: Under the name "Bavarian Peaks Challenge", PATRIZIA Foundation supporters hike together for two days in the Bavarian Alps over the Wendelstein, with the ambitious goal of raising €100,000 for the PATRIZIA Primary School Songea.

The aim of the fundraising campaign, which is organised and carried out by the participants themselves, is to finance the construction costs of the PATRIZIA Primary School Songea, which has already been built in 2020 but is not yet financed. 100 percent of the proceeds from the Bavarian Peaks Challenge will go towards financing the school building.

Thanks to the donations from the Bavarian Peaks Challenge, the pupils will receive a high-quality education, hot meals at school and a safe environment. Up to 560 children from the region and children without families from the nearby PATRIZIA KinderHaus will find space in the new school. PATRIZIA Primary School Songea serves children from pre-school to grade seven. The school is run locally by the Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing, with whom a good partnership has existed for a long time.

What is special about the building is the well thought-out construction plan with 14 airy and bright classrooms on both floors. The school is of above-average construction quality with sturdy railings, fire extinguishers and good sanitary facilities.

Besides the classrooms, the school has a library, a staff room and a large courtyard for breaks and school assemblies. A football pitch is to be built next to the school. A vision for the future is a large community hall.
