Running a Marathon & Fundraising for Ukraine 🇺🇦

Like many people around the world, I have been feeling helpless watching the horrifying Russian invasion and bombing of Ukraine. So I've decided to try to use my upcoming marathon to raise as much money as possible for humanitarian emergency aid to Ukraine. I will match the first 1000 Euros (or Dollars) donated to this cause.

10 years ago I ran my first marathon in Athens, Greece. Since then, I have ran numerous half marathons but never attempted the full distance again. Now, a decade later, I have signed up for the Colorado Marathon which will take place on May 1st, 2022 in Fort Collins.

There are two ways to contribute:

1. Betterplace.org is a German platform through which you can donate to the charity Deutschland Hilft ("Germany helps") which is an alliance of German emergency aid organizations. Here's more information on the organization: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aktion_Deutschland_Hilft

2. However, if you want to donate for a different organization that supports Ukrainian civilians (e.g. because you want to donate in US dollars, or want to be able to make a tax-deductible donation in the US) I will still match your donation. Just send me a screenshot of your donation.
