Charity Evening on Earth Day 2021

Please donate if possible live during the zoom sesson on 22 April from 8pm. If this is not possible: We (Valentina and I) are happy about all donations! No matter at what time. (We‘ll close the campaign on betterplace only on 30 April).

There is no climate justice without gender justice! Changing the world from your living room? Maybe a little bit. Mark April 22 in your calendar and join us for a special virtual evening!

On April 22 at 8pm CET my friend and colleague Valentina and I want to introduce you to two organizations that are working for women’s rights from two different perspectives and in two different places: Poderosas Urabá in Colombia & Gender CC- Women for Climate Justice as an international network based in Berlin. The format is very simple: we invite you to a (virtual) gathering in our living rooms to present these two social projects, chat with some amazing people working for them, and afterwards join our forces to donate for them. This last step is absolutely voluntary, of course, and the contribution is completely up to you and can be done anonymously.

About the format: The format is called a Wohnzimmerspende (it translates from German to “living room donation") and is an example of an initiative called Giving Circles. Feel free to read more about it, but as an overview, it is a format in which individuals gather a small circle of friends, relatives, colleagues and other acquaintances, without any associations or other institutional forms, in order to pool donations for good causes. After listening about the projects, the participants decide if, how much and to which cause they want to donate.

We will be talking about the work of both organizations with two wonderful and inspiring people. Let's make a difference together! We‘re looking forward to seeing you all!

1. We will meet at 8pm for a video conference via Zoom. The event will last approximately 1 hour.

2. We talk live with dedicated people from two organizations.

3. We donate directly to the projects for Gender cc via betterplace.org. (Poderosas uses another plattform from Columbia). As much or as little as everyone wants or can: there is no minimum donation. Even upwards it is open ;-)
