As a result of the COVID 19 pandemic more than 1 billion children are now out of school. Child poverty and suffering is rising. 

 

Globally, the number of children living in monetary poor households could soar by more than 117 million by end of year. We desperately need your help to address the immediate and long-term threats of COVID-19. We must act now to protect a generation.

188 countries have imposed countrywide school closures, affecting more than 1.6 billion children and youth. The potential losses that may accrue in learning for today’s young generation, and for the development of their human capital, are hard to fathom. More than two-thirds of countries have introduced a national distance learning platform, but among low-income countries the share is only 30 percent. Before this crisis, almost one third of the world’s young people were already digitally excluded.188 countries have imposed countrywide school closures, affecting more than 1.6 billion children and youth. We have chosen to support “COVID-19: Protecting a generation of children” by Save the Children because we believe that they provide the most impactful and effective help for children in dire need. The situation is particularly alarming in crisis areas and in very poor regions. Especially in those areas where there is already a lack of clean water and soap, and living conditions that makes it very difficult for people to stay away from each other for mutual protection.

As many as 132 million people may go hungry in 2020, of that 36 million children

 

Through the Solidarity Box we would like to assist Save the Children in finding the best possible solutions to help children impacted the hardest from this pandemic. 

 

So you maybe now wondering what is the Solidarity Box? Start by asking yourself what do you want to give to the world?
